$2.80 MAKEUP?! MY THOUGHTS ON DAISO PRODUCTS

Generally us Aussies are used to getting the shorter end of the stick when it comes to makeup prices in Australia so when I see a store pop up selling products for $2.80 it's hard to not be skeptical especially considering it's shockingly the cheapest foundation I have ever dreamed of. When you think about it, there's not much you can buy these days that is under $3 other than a bag of chips maybe so it's shocking how affordable these products are. I am extremely glad that I decided to pick up some products to try out because it turns out that they aren't as disappointing as you would expect and I was actually quite impressed with the quality of this makeup considering it's tiny price tag. So now let's get into what I thought of the five products I picked up!

Everbilena Liquid Foundation
I know exactly what you're thinking because I was thinking it too; do we really want to risk putting this on our face when it costs less than a bag of chips? I mean what's the worse that can happen...it chronically breaks me out for the rest of my life? Well after getting past the initial hesitation and actually giving this a go I was shocked at how good this actually was, better than some foundations I have used from cheaper Australian brands such as BOE Beauty and BYS. Although this foundation leaves a bit of a tacky residue, it was no worse on my skin than any other foundation and actually provided fairly decent coverage. I would say it's most comparable to a BB Cream with the same thick consistency and buildable formulation. The only dislikes about this product is that there are limited shades available and it can leave a bit of a white cast over the face.
Stick Concealer
Again, any face product like foundation or concealer under $3 is fairly hard to comprehend so I wasn't expecting much from this concealer at all. Similarly to the foundation I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this product! It is extremely bendable, gliding right onto the skin and has a nice finish. The only cons of this one is that it has a tacky residue and a limited colour range. A tip to keep in mind when using this concealer is that it requires some body heat to melt the product into the skin so opt for your fingers rather than a brush when applying this one.
Glitter Eyeshadow Palette
This initially reminded me so much of the BYS glitter eyeshadows which if you have tried them you would know what a disappointment they are as only the top layer is glitter. Thankfully the shadows in this palette are glitter all the way through, making for a fun array of colours to play around with. These are extremely pigmented and have an incredible colour payoff moreso than even some of my MAC and Chanel eyeshadows. The only downfall of this product is that they are very chalky eyeshadows and so result in quite a lot of fall-out. My recommendation is to use an eye primer which will not only minimise the amount of fall out but also prevent creasing.
Green Eyeshadow Quad
When I saw this palette I nearly dropped dead from how stunning some of the colours are. The overriding theme of the palette is green and so it includes a; lime green, greenish black, olive brown and olive gold. Similarly to the glitter palette, these have incredible pigmentation but are not as chalky. This palette is very versatile and can be used for both day and night looks making it perfect for traveling purposes. Also the packaging is divine so it's a gorgeous addition to any makeup collection.
Long Lash Mascara
I am quite particular when it comes to my mascara so I had extremely low hopes when it came to trying this product out. Just like every other product I was pleasantly surprised with how effectively it lengthened and volumised my lashes. It did dry quite crunchy but that could be due to it containing hard waxes to help with the volumising aspects.

So overall I think that Daiso produces some incredible product at a shockingly affordable price. Next time you are walking by a Daiso I definitely recommend stopping in a picking up a couple of product to try out for yourself, you have nothing to loose other than $2.80.

  2. Glad you liked Daiso products! I've been using their stuff for ages, but have never tried the foundation so I'll have to give it a go! Sadly we still get the short end of the stick, as Daiso in other countries only cost $1!!!
