MAC "REBEL" LIPSTICK {REVIEW AND SWATCHES}

Now that the weather is finally cooling down in Brisbane I have started pulling out all of my deep Autumn and Winter lip shades, of them including MAC Rebel. To me this lip colour is why I get excited about my makeup in the cooler months, it's just such a bold makeup statement that I think perfectly compliments the cooler weather colour scheme and fashion also. Keep reading to find out more about my thoughts on this highly raved about lip shade.

Colour
Starting out with the most obvious aspect of this lipstick, colour. Rebel is a daring shade that can often be overlooked as too dark but it's actually quite wearable. This colour is an absolute staple in my collection around this time of year and I find it appropriate for even everyday wear. I would best describe the colour as a deep fuschia berry with a purple undertone.

Consistency
This shade gives a glossy finish and a very subtle shimmer. The formulation is very smooth and creamy so it glides onto the lips and is comfortable to wear.

Usage
I love experimenting with this lipstick whether it be mixed with a nude liner underneath, clear gloss on top or combined with a baby pink lipstick. This is such a versatile berry shade that goes well with many different products so it's up to you how you want to use it and what for.

Pigmentation
The pigmentation is outstanding with only one coat being quite opaque on the lips (as seen above in the swatch) and two coats being extremely bold. This makes for a versatile shade that can be worn casually or built up for maximum impact.

Cost and Accessibility
MAC lipsticks retail for $36 and are available from MAC counters at Myer and David Jones.

So overall, I would recommend this lipstick if you are looking for your perfect go-to Autumn/Winter lipstick that you can chuck in your bag and quickly picks up a makeup look.

Thank you for reading ♥

  1. It's such a pretty colour. My go-to shade for autumn is the Kate Moss by Rimmel Matte lipstick in 107. I think it's similar to Rebel looking at the swatch. :)

  3. Rebel is so pretty. When I first got it and saw it in the bullet I thought it was going to be way to dark and daring for me but it pleasantly surprised me :) Raspberrykiss xo

  5. I love this lipstick!
    Rimmel 120 Cutting Edge lipstick is almost identical colour to the MAC Rebel, perhaps a tiny bit darker. The texture is very very similar also and it fades away to a stain.
    I still think MAC Rebel is a bit smoother and creamier but the Rimmel is an excellent alternative for those who find MAC too pricey for their budget.
