If there's one thing I look forward to most about Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival each year, it's the gorgeous gowns! It's not everyday that you get to see dresses fit for princesses paraded around in a majestic show. This year Chetcuti delivered; sequins, feathers, beads and all. I thought it would be only rude not to share all of these incredible designs that I witnessed saunter down the runway.
Starting off with the finale dress because I'm pretty sure my jaw hit the floor when this particular design appeared from behind the curtains. The beaded and crystal encrusted bodice style top is extraordinary. With the sweetheart cut and chunky crystal straps, this dress screams glamour. The puffy tulle train was like something out of Barbie and The Nutcracker (one of my favourite movies as a kid). Paired with a stunning floral headpiece and a crystal encrusted neck piece, this was definitely the look that stole the show.
All my fellow lilac lovers out there will be drooling over this gown! Forget subtly incorporating lilac, I love how this dress goes all out with lilac colour from top to bottom, inside and out. A cape style trail encases this tight fitting silk slip with gorgeous floral patterns. The sweetheart neckline makes another appearance but this time accompanied by strapless.
This has to be in my top three from the night! The red silk works so well with the bell shape of the gown, that fits perfectly around the waist in a wrap style. A flap of extra material is featured on the side of the dress, adding a textured element. The stunning netted top is where it's at though, with gorgeous coral tones and an unexpected turquoise blue beading. Keeping it classy with a high necked cut while relying on the shape of the dress for a generous measure of femininity.
White and silver is always an unbeatable combination but in this case I feel like it could have been done better, which is was in a later dress. It was much less modest than a modern day woman deserves but the concept is there. From the waist down I'm in love but the top leaves not much to be desired.
Cue the feathers; another lilac ensemble and this one is absolutely stunning, even moreso than the one shown earlier. Best described as a lilac silk mini dress with extraordinary beading but also a mesh train with feathers sporadically placed.
This gorgeous gown looks like it was pulled straight out of the ocean, all that's missing is a classic mermaid train. The bustier style top was encrusted with scale like multi-colour sequins and finishing off the dress was an intricate feather spiral design.
This futuristic inspired ensemble brought out the space pants and galaxy style top. This made for quite an interesting look but I'm unsure if it's going to catch on.
Back to the classics with this stunning purple dress that goes mesh as it hits the hip. My favourite part of this is the detailing on only one side strap that gives a gorgeous pageant feel to it.
This pale baby pink gown paired with the makeup and hair look gave a Great Gatsby "Daisy" feel to it. The silver embellishments gave the floor-length gown a gorgeous sparkle.Another one of my absolute favourites from the show features my all time favourite colour combination...baby blue and pink! I love everything about this dress from the sexy cut out to the ruched and structured sweetheart bust.
This is the white and silver combo dress that is similar to the one mentioned prior that I wasn't a huge fan of. This dress is like that one but done way better. The scalloped edges and asymmetrical hem make for a really unique cut. The three dimensional scalloping at the bust of the dress is a gorgeous element and the details at the waist give the gown a belted look.
Lastly we have this purple gown with a blue feature. I love how feminine the flowy trail is while also being super glamorous with the sparkly detailing and bold straps.
So that is my wrap up of the Chetcuti offerings to Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane this year. It was definitely one of my favourite of the week, second to the Myer show which you can read all about here.
