It actually never occurred to me up until a few years ago that suiting your eyeshadows to your eye colour was “a thing”. But using complimentary shades to your natural colouring can further enhance your eye colour and make your features pop.
In this post I am focusing on eyeshadow shades that suit green eyes but I hope to make this a series where I can get around to all the eye colours and have some recommendations for everyone. I’m stuck in the middle between blue and green eyes and depending on the day they can look like either shade. I always find that these particular eyeshadow colours particularly make my eyes pop and further bring out the green so these tried and tested shades are my recommendations for green eyes.
The colour scheme that is great to stick with is olives,
antiqued golds, peaches, pinks and greens. This gives a whole heap of variety
when creating eye looks. The thing I found most interesting, with complimenting
eye shades in general was definitely that products the same as your eye colour
are complimenting, whereas I always thought it was the opposite for some odd
reason.
Now let us get into some specific product recommendations so
that we can put this colour knowledge into action.
This NARS eyeshadow duo in "Paramaribo" is a godsend for those of us with
green eyes because it incorporates two of the most complimenting colours with
blondes; olive green and antiqued gold.
MAC Mineralized Duo is another beautiful combination of hues
with a similar colour scheme. The pale creamy gold looks beautiful on the lid
and the shimmery deep green makes for a great crease colour.
MAC “Bitter” Eyeshadow is for the bold eye looks when you
want to make a statement. This acidic green is the perfect pop of colour paired
with a bold winged liner and smoky brown crease shade.
BOE Beauty Eyeshadow Duo is a lovely affordable option for
obtaining a pink and peach shade in your collection. These are surprisingly
pigmented and amazing when paired with a neutral shade in the crease.
Mary Kay Baked Trio in "On The Horizon" is a stunning combination of colours and
a great one to own for green eyes because all three suit the eye colour so
well.
Inika Mineral Eyeshadow in "Pink Pearl" is a soft pale pink and a perfect
introductory colour to playing around with pink shades. The particular colour
can be quite intimidating at first, almost as much so as a red or yellow, but
this shimmery light pink makes it easy to incorporate into an everyday look.
L’Oreal Infalliable Pressed Eyeshadow in "Naughty Strawberry" is the complete
opposite of the Inika product. This extremely pigmented hot pink will make a
statement if you are feeling daring. Let’s be real though – the olive greens
are much more wearable so probably a great place to start.
