New year! Who dis? I know saying things like ‘this is my year’ is almost as cliché as ‘new year, new me!’.
However, I am a big believer in making each year better than the previous one and this is entirely possible considering we are constantly evolving and learning.
I’m always looking to become a better version of myself and a new year is always the perfect opportunity to set goals, kick any bad habits, implement good routines etc. The clean slate is there for everyone and a lot of us choose to use it as an opportunity for a fresh start.
Here is how you can make 2019 your best year yet!
Learn from your experiences in 2018
Did you go through something last year that was life altering, traumatic or just different for you? What did you take from it? If you can learn from your experiences and bring that newly acquired knowledge into the new year then you will go into 2019 stronger, more resilient and overall a better person.
Read more books
Expand your mind this year and learn about different concepts by reading more. There is something so beautiful about spending a week or two inside someone else’s head, hearing what they have to say. Whether it’s a self-help book that inspired a mindset shift or a fantasy novel that allows you to escape – reading it a sure-fire way to add value to your year.
Go on more adventures
Do you always talk about going to the park and reading? Or what about making it to the beach and taking yourself for lunch? These are amazing things to do for yourself but life often gets in the way. So, schedule in the time and make a point to go on those adventures you always want to but never get the chance to.
Focus on self-care
Make time for self-care in 2019 so you don’t burn out. This could mean having a lazy Sunday scheduled in on the calendar or not over-committing to after work networking events. Put you first because your mental and physical health comes above any trivial meeting or event.
Get a skincare regime

Not only will you be treating your skin with the care it deserves but it’s also super therapeutic to take a mini time out in the morning and evening to focus on yourself.
Make health a priority
You have two homes in this life – the earth and your body. You have direct control over taking care of yourself so make it a priority! Schedule weekly exercise, fill your fridge with healthy foods and resolve any health issues you may have. Without health we have nothing so this is critical to ensuring 2019 is your best year yet.
Save money and invest in your future
Try and cut out any frivolous spending in 2019 so that you have money for the things that matter. This isn’t saying to be frugal by any means but invest in a good quality car or save for a house deposit rather than excessively buy new clothes or treat yourself to all the latest makeup releases. Join a library instead of buying books and pack your lunch instead of buying it.
